The Del Marcos Hotel checks off every box for mid-century modern enthusiasts. This 17-room boutique hotel launched the career of William F. Cody, one of Palm Springs’ most influential and innovative architects. It was his first independent commission in the city, and earned Cody a design award from the American Institute of Architects. Now, it is part of the luxury Kirkwood Collection portfolio. Founder and CEO Alex Kirkwood described the Del Marcos as “a desert icon with rich heritage and mid-century charm,” which helped put Palm Springs on the map. The Kirkwood Collection has a “track record of preserving and bringing life into historic landmarks,” he added, and “we are the perfect stewards to protect the timeless allure of this desert oasis.” Cody used native stone and redwood for the Del Marcos, and it retains the spirit of the 1950s and 1960s, with retro furnishings and decor. The restored rooms are spacious and surround the hotel’s inviting saltwater pool and fire pits. It is an adults only, smoke-free hotel with some rooms that are dog friendly. Every morning, guests receive complimentary breakfasts of coffee, tea, fruit, and assorted baked goods, and the friendly staff will help with everything from arranging golf tee times to setting up in-room spa treatments.
