Exceptional Clothing Optional Men’s Resort!

This beautiful 1950’s property is one of the longest running clothing optional resorts serving the gay male community in Palm Springs and is now the home to Escape Resort. Enjoy the total privacy of our resort, relax, be yourself, and submerge in our hospitality.

All rooms are individually decorated and designed. Each room has private bath, comfortable linens, individual climate control, TVs/DVD’s, and many special guest amenities to help make your stay enjoyable. Select a Standard Room with a queen bed, small fridge and microwave or a Superior Room with a king bed, private patio and kitchen.

Begin your day surrounded by our lush tropical gardens and watch the hummingbirds play. A gourmet selection of coffee and tea are available along with daily newspapers. Enjoy the complimentary expanded Continental Breakfast in your room, on your patio or poolside. For the energetic, local area gyms and hiking trails are calling. For the adventurists, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, The Living Desert and Joshua Tree National Park are beckoning. For the laid back, pool floats and poolside loungers are seducing.

Stretch out by the pool and enjoy abundant sun all day while surrounded by spectacular mountain views. Relax with a good book from our library or simply enjoy our expansive courtyard and gardens. Our clientele includes singles and couples of all ages; we cater to guests who want to avoid the bathhouse and heavy party scene that is found at some gay hotels. We make it easy for you to meet other guests in a relaxed, friendly, "attitude-free" atmosphere, plus we have social hours every Friday and Saturday. Clothing is optional throughout the resort — wear whatever makes you comfortable or go as bare as you dare.

Escape is situated on a quiet side street one block from Palm Canyon Drive, the main street of downtown Palm Springs. It’s a short walking distance to a wealth of shops, restaurants and bars, many of which catering exclusively to the gay community. The city is a beacon for Gay and Lesbian travelers with estimates of up to 50% of the permanent population being LGBT. While a car isn’t necessary, it gives you access to a variety of tourist destinations in the area, including the Living Desert, Arial Tramway, Casinos, and shopping on the exclusive El Paseo Drive or at the Designer Shops at the Desert Hills Factory Outlet Mall.

Once you’ve shopped and sunned, end the day with an evening on the town. Palm Springs is famous for its restaurants and we can help you pick the one that will best suit your tastes. At the evenings end, slip into our 15-man spa and enjoy a night under the stars.

Guests escape to Palm Springs for many reasons. For some it’s an opportunity to get some much needed rest and relaxation. For others it’s a chance to have some fun and get away from the everyday world. Whatever the reason for your visit, we’ll do our best to make it the perfect escape.

Hotel Backstory

Escape to an oasis for men, where you're encouraged to be yourself

Their first vacation together was a getaway to Palm Springs, where as they lounged around the pool they thought, "We could do this!" Fast forward a few years, and you'll find Mark Hunter and Greg Kafka are celebrating many years of success as the owners of Escape Palm Springs, a gay men's clothing optional resort.

Mark and Greg came to California from Colorado, where Mark was an art director for the Starz
movie channel and Greg was in finance and consulting. As they daydreamed about running their own hotel, they continued to vacation at different properties, keeping notes on what each place did right. They finally took the plunge, purchasing a property in 2010 and renovating from the ground up.

"It was in need of a lot of love and attention, and we have basically spent the last seven years on a continuous renovation plan," Mark said. "We wanted to stay true to it being a mid-century property, with open-beamed ceilings, mid-century designs and architectural lines."

The well-appointed rooms all have either outdoor seating areas or private patios, and many of the rooms boast kitchenettes with ranges, cooking equipment, and dinnerware. Escape's grounds are gorgeous, with a spacious pool and spa, tropical courtyard, mature palms, and large garden. Of the upmost importance to Mark and Greg is that every guest feels relaxed and secure.

"Sometimes when you are traveling as a gay couple, even at places that are 'gay-friendly,' you still have to deal with all kinds of looks when you're at the pool or hanging out," Mark said. "This is a safe and comfortable place to be yourself, and being able to provide that to the gay community is a big perk to having a resort."
